Polycarbonate panels are extremely tough and durable. Their low weight, impact and weather resistance, UV protection and thermal insulation make them suitable for a wide range of applications. Panels with thicknesses of 4, 4.5, 6, 8 and 10 mm are commonly used for greenhouses and cold frames. For carports, patio covers and other buildings, 10 or 16 mm panels are most common. Where higher snow or wind loads are expected, thicker panels such as 20, 25 and 32 mm may be appropriate. They can also be used as infills for windows and balcony railings, billboards, partitions and similar applications. Polycarbonate panels are available with documented reaction-to-fire classifications and are widely used in construction. Always check the declared classification of the selected panel against the fire-safety requirements of the project.
